About
Hello, my name is Sheri Nemec-Wies and I am proud to be a Texan. While I lived in a subdivision, our backyard bordered open lots, gullies, fields, train tracks, and cactus patches to explore. My days were full of exploring and make believe. My neighborhood friends were always on an adventure. Sometimes we drew whimsical chalk cities on the street. There we would deliver mail, host parties, and star in rodeos. Other days, were days of exploration. We learned about physics by sliding down the gully’s steep hills. We learned problem solving skills one day when we landed in the center of a huge cactus patch. These memories are priceless and my past has turned me into a creative, imaginative individual.
These experiences feel like yesterday to me. I believe my ability to keep these memories alive allows me to still see things through the eyes of a child. I love creating stories, activities and lessons that capture a child’s imagination.
I believe I was placed on this Earth for many reasons. My main job was being a stay at home mother for my daughters Aubrey and Kamryn. It was my joy and pleasure to be by their side as they learned to skip, draw, read, write, and imagine. They are now adults and they continue to make me proud.
Later in life, I realized yet another reason- I am now a 5th grade teacher. I love creating exciting lessons for my students to enjoy. In my classroom, we use hands on activities as often as we can. We use mind maps, draw pictures, create mnemonics, do experiments, and more. I try and bring the enthusiasm from my childhood into my classroom.
My biggest frustration with the education system is the lack of synergy- people working together to create a better outcome. My motto is “Work smarter, not harder.” That is the goal of this blog, to share some of the ideas and projects I have created. Feel free to use my free products to make your life easier, all I ask is that you give me credit for my work.
I hope you enjoy the site.
